About me

I am a licensed psychologist (PSY34385) treating individuals in the Los Angeles area in-person and throughout the state of California via teletherapy. I am also licensed in Washington State (PY61492214) and treat individuals throughout the state via teletherapy.

Regarding my professional education, I received my B.A. from the English Honors Program at the University of Texas at Austin. I later earned both an M.A. and a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from the Counseling Psychology program at The University of Texas at Austin. I completed my APA-accredited predoctoral internship at UCLA Counseling and Psychological Services, where I specialized in short-term, evidence-based treatments for students struggling with depression, anxiety, grief/loss, and trauma. I then completed a year of postdoctoral work in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and other third-wave cognitive behavioral therapies (CBT) at the practice of Dr. Nikki Rubin in Los Angeles. I have provided clinical services in community mental health, suicide intervention and crisis counseling, school counseling, and university college counseling. I also received professional training in interpersonal therapy, Motivational Interviewing (MI), and psychodynamic therapy.

I have expertise in trauma-informed care, including clinical practice and research focusing on the neurobiology of trauma and effective interventions. I have conducted and published research on practical trauma-informed care practices for students and teachers in the classroom, and have extensive experience providing instruction in trauma-informed care to education professionals. I have authored and published peer-reviewed articles detailing findings from research exploring effective ways to support educators who have been affected by trauma.

Outside of my work as a psychologist, I engage in nourishing pursuits like reading sci-fi novels, cooking and exploring the rich culinary delights of the greater Los Angeles area, and listening to music old and new.
